Vintage French Luneville Dinnerware, Blue White Check, 10-Places, 25 Piece Set

A classic cottage style French vintage dinner service in blue and white check pattern, with plate settings for up to 10 people, plus a set of matching serving dishes from KG (Keller & Guerin) Luneville France. In the design "Gerardmer" c 1950 - excellent vintage condition and still very usable!

Featuring a strong checkerboard border in blue and white stencil / airbrush painted, along with a very sweet stylised floral design of a red flower spray, this set has swags of cottage style charm. An absolutely classic French design for a farmhouse kitchen, or 1940s / 1950s inspired vintage décor. Numerous plates to serve a significant dinner party, accompanied by classically French matching set of serve ware. Excellent color retaining a soft ivory base without any significant discoloration, almost every piece is in excellent condition.

The set includes: 10 flat plates, 10 soup plates, a soup tureen with its lid, one large round flat serving platter, one large salad bowl; two small oval raviers (vegetable serving dishes). All in excellent usable condition. (Additional flat dinner plates are also available so please enquire if you would like a larger number of plates.)

Dimensions and condition as follows:

PLEASE NOTE: Unless otherwise stated, all pieces are in excellent antique condition - they may show some minor crazing, light signs of use such as scratches and very minor discoloration in places.

- 1 large serving platter (29cm diameter x 4.5cm high) in very good condition - a few greyish spots of discoloration, moderate crazing.
- 1 large salad bowl / deep serving dish - 29cm diameter x 6cm high
- 2 oval ravier serving dishes - 22.3cm long x 15cm wide x 3cm high. One ravier has a faint hairline mark in the glaze - this is not penetrating to the front of the dish and is probably a manufacturing fault.
- 1 medium sized soup tureen with lid, 15cm high (including lid - 11cm without lid) x 29cm wide (including handles), 23.3cm diameter at the rim. In good condition with a few glaze scrapes at the rim, and some small spots inside the bowl.
- 10 Dinner plates (23.6cm diameter) in excellent condition - one plate with a minor glaze loss to the outer rim. (Additional flat dinner plates are also available so please enquire if you would like a larger number of plates.)
- 10 soup plates (23.75cm diameter) 8 in excellent condition, 2 in satisfactory condition with a manufacturing fault of a non-penetrating crack on the underside of the bowl at the line where the deep bowl joins the outer rim. Both plates have the fault at the same point and since it would have been there since they were made, this fault is unlikely to pose a problem for using the pieces.

Damaged areas are not shown due to space constraints. Unless noted in the description above, all pieces are in excellent antique condition. I do have many more images available so please message me if you would like to see them.

Overall this set has been very lightly used and remains in excellent condition despite its age. Because this is a functional item, you may expect to see signs of use including light scratches, a few small areas of glaze loss, a few small areas of discoloration, etc. Also it is manufactured to different standards than today and you may see areas of glaze smudging, glaze spots, bubbles under the glaze - these are part of the vintage charm of the item and should in no way be regarded as faults. Overall this set is in truly excellent condition for its age of 70+ years - it remains very usable and will display well for years to come.
