Vintage French Floral Kitchen Canisters, Art Deco Farmhouse Set of 5

A fabulous set of 5 French oval kitchen canisters in classic Art Deco farmhouse style. In descending size, and including all the lids, this set was made around 1920-1930 in polychrome stencil painted / airbrushed glazes.

Made for the French market with all labels in French, but by an unknown maker, this set features stencil painted design in a bold pink, green and black floral pattern. This set is in very good vintage condition and would be a superb French vintage addition to an Art Deco, farmhouse, shabby chic or cottage style kitchen. Love the utilitarian stencil font !

In addition to the highly decorative painted image these pieces also feature a lovely sculpted surface detail on the base and lids, plus a beautiful Art Deco handle on the lid. The colour of the ground is an aged ivory white, with a patina of use and age apparent. Stamped on the base with production numbers, but no maker's mark. These are likely French made (possibly St Clement, who often used numbers to identify their forms).

In descending size as follows from largest to smallest:

"Farine" - 21cm high x 15cm wide x 11cm deep
"Sucre" - 19cm high x 13.5cm wide x 10cm deep
"Cafe" - 17cm high x 12cm wide x 9cm deep
"Pates" - 14.5cm high x 10.5cm wide x 8cm deep
"Epices" - 9.5cm high x 8cm wide x 6cm deep

(All sizes best estimate +/-3mm, taken at widest / tallest point, including lids)

This set is good vintage condition. The "Epices" pot has lost the top of the handle; there is slightly stronger discoloration / aging of the "Farine" pot (see photo) and a few fleabite chips, scratches, marks here and there. General signs of use and wear on each piece, including areas of discoloration inside the pots and scrapes / signs of use at the edges. Some crazing of the glaze as to be expected with the age of the set. No other cracks or repairs. In fully usable condition and excellent on display.

Overall a very good set in ceramic with all bases intact and all lids present with minimal damage - a great find!
