An unusual and beautifully preserved traditional French artisanal creel basket, dating to around 1930, with a hand-worked woven body, leather carrying strap and carved wooden details. Sections retain their old painted finish, contrasting with the naturally aged wood and leather. The basket even still contains the original hemp and cork woven creel net.
The stunning craftsmanship and individual carved elements distinguish this example from later factory-made baskets. It retains its original fittings and has developed an attractive surface patina through age and use.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition, with natural age-related wear and patina. Fully functional.
