A lovely French vintage stoneware confit pot, dating to the early 20th century. Traditionally used for cooking and preserving meats in the days before refrigerators, this piece has a beautifully simple, rustic form with smooth hand-molded handles and a gorgeous, smooth ecru glaze with some sheen and lovely passages of glaze drips. Its use over the years has given it an authentic patina with shades between beige and grey. Likely manufactured at Borne in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes in central France, renowned for its stoneware. Stamped with '2' on its base
Its understated design and its timeworn patina with beautiful light staining make it a perfect addition to French country, farmhouse, or cottage-style interiors. Use it as a rustic vase, utensil holder or as a decorative piece by itself.
Color: Grey / beige / stone / ecru
Dimensions: Height 14cm - Diameter 11cm / 16cm with handles
*Condition*: Excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks. You will expect to see age-related wear including light surface marks, minor imperfections, and natural glaze variation. No major damage unless noted.
Originally it would have been a utilitarian kitchen item, now it is ideal for display, storage, or as a decorative piece. A beautifully authentic piece of French country history.
