A lovely French vintage stoneware confit pot, dating to the early 20th century. Traditionally used for cooking and preserving meats in the days before refrigerators, this piece has a beautifully simple, rustic form with hand-molded ridged handles and a gorgeous, rich mottled glaze with lovely passages of glaze drips. Its use over the years has given it some lovely different shades between beige and grey. Likely manufactured at Borne, Haut-Loire in central France. Stamped with '8-3' on base
Its understated design and its timeworn patina with beautiful light staining make this a perfect addition to French country, farmhouse, or cottage-style interiors. Use it as a rustic vase, utensil holder or just as a lovely decorative accent.
Color: Grey / beige / stone / ecru
Dimensions: Height 17.5cm - Diameter 14cm / 18.5cm with handles
*Condition*: Excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks. You will expect to see age-related wear including light surface marks, minor imperfections, and natural glaze variation. No major damage unless noted.
Originally it would have been a utilitarian kitchen item, now it is ideal for display, storage, or as a decorative piece. A beautifully authentic piece of French country history.
