A decorative set of three shabby plates featuring dragonflies and wheat motifs, attributed to Salins-les-Bains production and strongly influenced by the Aesthetic movement. This late nineteenth-century design movement celebrated nature, asymmetry, and refined surface decoration - with insects such as dragonflies symbolising transformation and fleeting beauty.
These plates are shabby and show visible wear and staining, so lovely display pieces rather than for use, but visually they are very striking. They bring movement and narrative to a wall or shelf and add an unmistakably period character to a collection.
