A gorgeous set of French antique soup plates / bowls in very dark blue / black and white transferware with formal repeating floral design, in a pattern in the Empire revival style by Saint Amand et Hamage (Nord). The colour is an unusual midnight blue, very dark and presenting almost black for a crisp and classic look.
Priced and sold as a SET of 6 plates all in excellent condition.
A classic antique pattern with formal floral and chain border. The pieces are undated but the mark and style would seem to indicate a date of around 1900-1910 during a period of nostalgia for the Napoleonic Empire and accompanying styles. (Mark was in use by the faiencerie 'Ets. Céramique de St. Amand-les-Eaux' between 1908 - 1932)
A perfect French country design, transcending fashions with its classic appeal.

Height: 5 cm
CONDITION - the set includes 6 pieces in excellent antique condition. No chips or cracks, and no patchy discoloration, in nice condition for display or use. All plates show a few light signs of age and use, with scratches, wear to the rims, etc, to be expected at an age of around 120 years. Very minor all over crazing; also other minor manufacturing faults such as spots of transferware colour, small inclusions under the glaze, as to be expected with the manufacturing standards of the time. See photos for condition.
