A gorgeous SET of 6 French vintage small dinner / entree plates in a classic Victorian / 'Empire revival' design. Lovely crisp white ground with green transferware in wreath, garland & scroll designs. Made by Moulin des Loups, St Amand, France with a mark dating from 1896.
Priced and sold as a SET of 6 identical pieces.
The factory of Hamage St Amand specialized in fine earthenware and majolica and were known for their excellent quality of transferware decoration. A perfect French country design, this classic plate would have been a staple of the French salons of the late 1800s to early 1900s. The gorgeous windmill back stamp is undated, but the Empire revival style of this design probably places it before the emergence of Art Nouveau in the late nineteenth / early 20th century.
Featuring a beautiful formal pattern around the border, with delicately rendered laurel wreaths, stylised garlands and seed / scroll designs. Exquisitely detailed transfer printing and in excellent antique condition. The colourway is lovely in a classic forest green with a crisp white ground.

CONDITION - In very good to excellent antique condition. One plate has a non-penetrating hairline crack to the underside of the rim but not visible from the serving service and will not affect its usability. Otherwise, no significant flaws - as to be expected at an age of over 100 years, some pieces have small signs of age and use including some moderate scratches, 'fleabite' tiny chips to the rim, a few very tiny areas of glaze loss or discoloration, and light crazing. As with all antique faience wares, you may notice minor manufacturing faults including a glaze smears, transfer skips and small inclusions under the glaze, as to be expected with the more 'hand made' manufacturing methods of the time. Please see photos for condition and feel free to ask any questions. All pieces still display very well and are in good usable condition.
