A set of 6 very elegant French antique Art Nouveau dinner plates featuring flowers and leaves hand painted in purple, green and crimson against a soft cream ground with green trim. A rare design c1910-1920 from Longchamp, France, with a lovely enamel paint finish and slightly raised decoration for the beautiful floral patterns.
Priced and sold as a SET of 6 dinner plates.
These hand painted pieces are striking but also possess a refined elegance, reflecting the style of the Parisian Belle Epoque. These stylized florals emerged at a time when fussier styles made way for the sinuous lines of Art Nouveau / Secessionist / Jugendstil movements of the early 20th Century.
In very good antique condition: one plate has a small chip to the underside of its rim, there are small 'fleabite' chips across the rest of the set but barely visible and not impacting display quality of usability of the set. They have a lovely creamy ivory color, minimal discoloration of the glaze, with light overall crazing all to be to be expected for age of 100+ years - these plates remain in great condition for display or use - beautiful whether on the plate rack or in use on your table.
Each plate is 22.25cm diameter x 2.5cm high.
