Beautiful French antique soup plates in petrol blue transferware, each plate with a unique design featuring wildflowers and grasses with dragonflies. The plates are not stamped with a makers mark but they are certainly lovely examples of Aesthetic Movement faience, probably c1880-1890 prior to the emergence of Art Nouveau. Of lovely quality on a level expected from renowned faience houses such as U&C (Utzschneider & Co) Sarreguemines, and Creil and Montereau, France.
Priced and sold as a SET of 3 plates as pictured. Each plate is 22cm diameter x 3.5cm high.
All are in very good antique condition, the only imperfections one very small 'fleabite' chip to the rim, on one plate and a linear glaze skip on the underside of one of the plates from the time of manufacture.
A rarely-found pattern of romantic French country antique design - to use, display and treasure!
