An elegant set of 8 French antique ironstone soup plates in delightful petrol blue transferware. Classic design in vintage blue and white china, in the model 'Carina' from the renowned faienceries of Sarreguemines, France c1900-1910. In excellent usable condition.

The price is for the SET of 8 identical soup plates.

This beautiful model of plate is made in fine earthenware, known in France as terre de fer ("iron earth"), with blue transferware on a crisp white paste. The stunning design features a formal Neoclassical style border frieze with starburst medallions surrounded by laurel wreaths. At just over 9.5", these dishes are a generous size for modern uses such as pasta or salads, as well as soup - these are practical and usable pieces, as well as elevating the look of any table setting with their classic design.

Diameter: 24.5 cm
Height: 4.5 cm

Condition is 'good' to 'excellent' vintage condition - no cracks, glazes in good condition suitable for use. Two plates have small faults, one with a small glaze loss (3mm x 1mm to the outer rim (not visible on the front face); another has a shallow glaze loss of 5mm diameter on the rim. Otherwise, very light signs of use including a few light scratches / scrapes. Minimal crazing, crisp color with no discoloration or stains. Due to the more hand-made manufacturing processes of the time, you may see variations in the glaze, transferware, colours, and minor imperfects such as bubbles or inclusions under the glaze - these are all normal characteristics of faience wares of this age. Overall this set is in fabulous condition for age of 100+ years. Please see photos for condition and feel free to ask any questions.

Marked on the base for Sarreguemines France with pattern name 'Carina' and a maker's mark in use around 1900-1920.

A beautiful set to use and enjoy - with a timeless blue and white design!

Please feel free to ask any questions :) I am happy to combine shipping.
