An elegant set of 6 antique French ironstone (faience) brown transferware, sized as large side plates, or breakfast / dessert plates, c1880-1890. Featuring a lovely transfer printed design in brown with stylized vignettes of floral sprays, this is a timeless set of antique faience to grace your table. Featuring different designs across the set with every plate slightly different from the others, this lovely diverging pattern lends a further element of interest to the designs of this stunning set.
Priced and sold as the SET of 6 plates.
Dimensions: 22cm diameter x 2cm high
Condition - In good antique condition, the set has been very well looked after over the long years. No chips or cracks. No scrapes or deep scratches. As to be expected at an age of over 100 years, this set has some very light signs of age and use including a few very light scratches, very tiny areas of glaze loss and crazing. As with all antique faience wares, you may notice minor manufacturing faults including a glaze smears, transfer skips and small inclusions under the glaze, as to be expected with the more 'hand made' manufacturing methods of the time. Please see photos for condition and feel free to ask any questions. Displays very well and still in very usable condition.
