A lovely set of 6 antique faience side / dessert plates from the late 19th century from Luneville France. Featuring an elegant red and white transferware pattern 'Maintenon' with a central floral vignette with bow, torches and musical instruments and a stylised border frieze of leaves and crests. Named for the Marquise de Maintenon, the second wife of Louis XIV, and reflecting the range of courtly interests and pastimes with a strong musical theme.
All in attractive, very usable condition. Perfect tea party wares or for the china cabinet!
Each plate is 18.5cm diameter 2.2cm high
In very good to excellent condition with no cracks or chips, lovely color with no discoloration. Some very minor faults and signs of use such as scratches on some of the plates and a few small fleabites chips and scrapes to the rim. Nothing to prevent use or appearance on display.
A very pretty set of authentic antique plates to use and enjoy from a respected French maker!
