A set of 5 French antique cabinet plates from the 19thC featuring iconic buildings of Paris. Also known as lens or talking plates, these beautiful small pieces would have been used for wall or cabinet display, and occasional use for serving dainty dessert items such as tea cakes or petit fours.

Made in a rare sand-toned ground with intricate sepia transferware images of Parisian architecture, these lovely plates have a hand painted radial border detail and lightly scalloped / fluted rims.
The images shown are all different and include the great sights of Paris: - Le Jardin des Tuileries - Palais Royal = Palais de Luxembourg - Palais de Justice - Ecole Militaire
The dimensions of each plate is: diameter of 19cm and height 2cm
The plates are in very good condition, there is one small chip to the rim of one plate (see image), otherwise there are no scratches, chips, cracks or crazing or discoloration. The plates have clearly been reserved for display and very little used.
