An elegant French floral faience tea / coffee cup and saucer set in soft raspberry red transferware with anemone blooms in a lovely Aesthetic movement design. In standard 'tasse' size, practical for modern uses, though dating from the later 19th century (c1890), these pieces were made in France by the faienceries of Societe Amandinoise of St Amand, France.
Priced and sold as a SET of 4 cup and saucer duos, shipped free worldwide.
These lovely cups and saucers have delightful, intricately rendered images of anemone flowers and leaves with stylized scroll details. A delightfully romantic floral theme in a gorgeous soft red colorway would make these an ideal gift for someone special.
The late 1800s was an exciting time in design in Europe, and this piece unapologetically embraces the romance of the 'country cottage' ideal that was so important in the Arts and Crafts / Aesthetic movement.
This set is in very good antique condition. No cracks or large chips. You may see small signs of use and wear such as minor crazing and a few very tiny 'fleabite' chips glaze losses to the rim, glaze scrapes, scratches, small spots of discoloration and other small defects, all to be expected for an age over 120 years. In lovely condition for age, gorgeous on display and nothing to prevent continued use, as desired.
