A lovely set of 3 green and white transferware antique dinner plates very good to lightly shabby condition. Featuring bouquets of flowers and ribbons interlaced with a Greek key border motif in the 'Athenes' pattern in green transferware from Moulin Des Loups, France c 1900-1910.
The late 1800s was an exciting time in design in Europe, and this set is a beautiful example of the Neoclassical revival during the Parisian Belle Epoque in the late 19th / early 20th century. This design features repeating garlands of blooms and geometric 'Greek key' detailing interlaced with ribbon which dance around the rim.
Stamped on the base for Moulin Des Loups, with a mark in use during the early 20th century (c1900-1920) from this famous faience / earthenware maker.
Dimensions:
Diameter 22cm, height 2.5cm
Condition - The plates are in lightly shabby antique condition and show some very small signs of their great age - one of the plates has three hairline cracks and a small chip, another has a 3cm glaze skip on the back, The plates, while perhaps all not being suitable for use, the plates will display nicely on the wall or plate rack as the imperfections are not visible other than on close inspection. Please see photos for condition.
