A SET of 3 beautiful antique ironstone faience earthenware small plates in navy blue flow transferware. Featuring a shabby-but-lovely tea-stained aged white ground, with designs of vignettes of flowers, this is a lovely set of very romantic antique faience ware c1880-1910 by Villeroy and Boch.
Priced and sold as a SET of 3 plates, 2 with the same transferware design, 1 slightly different pattern.
The deep navy blue, with a hint of blue flow effect, is set off beautifully by the creamy white ground to create the inimitable look of an authentic antique.
Each plate 17cm diameter x 1.5cm high.
Condition is very good antique condition but with a tea stain patina: the plates have no chips or cracks, but some crazing and signs of use / wear commensurate with age (scrapes, scratches, etc). Ground colour reflects the passing of time for these pieces, with a pleasing 'tea stain' patina and some staining. The condition of the glazes means these plates are recommended for display rather than use. Please see photos for detail and feel free to ask any questions.
