PAIR Shabby Antique French Luneville Soup Tureens, Green & Pink Art Nouveau Floral Transferware

An sweet pair of antique French tureens ('soupieres') in a rare red and green transferware pattern, 'Roland' by KG Luneville. In shabby antique condition, but beautiful display and presentation pieces.

Featuring a gorgeous intricate floral and foliate design, with a repeating border of leaves, flowers and early Art Nouveau vining forms in beautifully soft raspberry red and forest green, rendered in a wash finish, reminiscent of watercolour painting. This set is a rare design capturing the romance of the Parisian Belle Epoque with an emerging Art Nouveau design, very elegant and timeless to fit with any décor. It is stamped for KG Keller and Guerin, de la faiencerie de Luneville, decor 'Roland', dated c1900. (The name of the pattern likely derives from the famous revolutionary intellectual and political luminary, Madame Roland whose Parisian Salon was the pinnacle of sophisticated thinking and an informal seat of power in the late 18th Century.)

Priced and sold as a PAIR - 2 lidded tureens, of slightly different dimensions.

Dimensions:
- Larger piece: 22cm (29cm with handles height 8.5cm and 21cm with lid. Condition is shabby with one long hairline crack and several chips to the underside of the lid rim).
- Smaller piece: 19cm (25.5cm with handles height 8.5cm and 15cm with lid. Condition is shabby with one long hairline crack.

Despite their imperfections, these pieces remain lovely on display with all the charm of authentic French pieces from one of the most vibrant times in European design.
