A matching pair of traditional French faiselles finished in a rich chocolate brown glaze. These pierced earthenware moulds were used throughout rural France in the production of fresh cheeses and remained an essential part of farmhouse kitchens well into the twentieth century.
Both examples retain attractive wear to the glaze from decades of use. The deep brown colouring contrasts beautifully with the exposed terracotta beneath and reflects the practical country pottery produced during this period.
