A gorgeous pair of matching Villeroy and Boch jugs in a large and medium size in a classic cornflower blue and white colourway. Made in earthenware during the time of the protectorate of France c1945-55 by renowned ceramics manufacturer V & B (Villeroy and Boch) and bearing the rare Mettlach 'Made in France Economic Union' Mercury mark and the pattern name 'Orleans'.
This very usable vintage pair of pitchers are lovely examples of European late Art Deco / 1950s Moderne design, in very good condition.
These gorgeous jugs feature a beautiful rounded ball design, with wide and low profile, and classic understated details, in a lovely vibrant colourway with a classic cornflower blue and white. In the Moderne style with late Art Deco influences which would be right at home in a cottage-style kitchen or with any vintage decor.
This set is in very good vintage condition with no large chips, cracks, crazing or discoloration. A small shallow chip / glaze loss to the rim of the smaller jug and a few tiny 'flea bite' glaze losses (under 1mm diameter) around the outer rims of (see pictures). Otherwise some signs of wear and use, light scratches, etc, with nothing to detract from appearance on display or continued usability.

Approx diameter - 10.7cm
Width (back of handle to front of spout) - 15cm
Height - 10.5cm
This set is still usable for food service, without significant crazing. Both pieces display very well and would look great up on a shelf, or in use for floral displays - fabulous addition of a pop of colour in a vintage interior, or farmhouse kitchen décor.
