Pair of Small Three-Footed Glazed Terracotta Faisselles, France c.1940
A charming pair of small French glazed terracotta faisselles raised on three feet, dating from the mid-twentieth century. Traditionally used in cheese making, faisselles allowed whey to drain through pierced walls while fresh curd set into shape. Their distinctive perforated form and small feet now make them highly decorative kitchen objects.
Ideal for shelf display, holding garlic or utensils, or grouped with rustic pottery in a country kitchen.
Height 7 cm (2.8 in), diameter 8 cm (3.1 in). Condition: light wear and surface scrapes; one piece has partial loss to one foot.
