A lovely French antique brass fruit stand / bowl, embellished with a repeating border design of cut out formal geometric pattern cut through to form a lattice through the brass. Lovely large scale makes this ideal piece for a wedding table or as a gift!
With a liner this would function beautifully as a small fruit stand or candy dish, or for a floral centerpiece or potpourri bowl.
Condition is very good antique condition. No major damage or dents, small patches of verdigris present. Probably originally silver plated but now presenting as patinated brass as the silver has worn away over the years - see photos for condition. Please note that I have not polished this item at all, so it should be possible to remove the patina to bring it to a higher shine if desired. However, since I can't replace the patina again if I polish it, I would prefer to leave this 'as found' and the finish to the choice of the eventual buyer.
Undated and unmarked, but stylistically probably dating from around 1900-1920. Sourced from a brocante sale in SW France.
