A large French earthenware jug decorated with bold petrol blue floral transferware on a warm cream ground, dating from around 1900. The generous proportions, broad body and sweeping handle make it a particularly impressive example of late nineteenth-century French pottery.
The rich petrol blue decoration contrasts beautifully with the ivory-coloured body, while the unmarked base bearing only a G11 impressed mark suggests production by one of the many regional French potteries of the period.

Condition: Small mature chip to the inner rim approximately the size of a melon seed together with some age-related discoloration.
