An elegant French vintage blue, red and white transferware large dinner service from the renowned Faiencerie de Gien. This large set of 62 pieces includes full place settings for 12 people with 22 dinner plates, 12 side plates, 12 soup plates, plus a wonderful suite of matching serve ware. Hand painted over transferware and with wonderful decorators' marks on the back of each piece, this intricate pattern is a tour de force of French ceramic decoration from one of the most respected makers in France.

Lovely rich cobalt blue and white palette and lavishly detailed floral designs in star pattern with hand painted elements, this mid-century set has well-proportioned plates for modern dining which, along with a generous array of serving dishes (soupieres, ravier, compotier, platters) make this service extremely practical for table settings for all occasions.

Handpainted mark for Gien with decorators signature and a mark style in use in the early-mid 20th Century.

CONDITION -
In lovely vintage condition, this set remains in table-ready condition but does have some traces of age and use, mainly chips to the underside of some the items and a few light scratches and scrapes. The colors remain fresh and vibrant with crisp white ground to set off the bold patterns.
Across the 62 pieces, there are 52 pieces in very good to excellent condition. The remaining 10 items have the following specific issues to note:
- 6 plates (2 soup, 2 dinner, 2 side) have a chip / chips to the underside of the rim;
- A crack to one handle of the small tureen which has been cleanly re-glued. Also minor staining and spots of discoloration inside both tureens;
- Compotier has a tight hairline, and a 1.5cm chip to the underside of the rim.
- The large platter has 2 small rim chips.
All pieces remain usable.
