A lovely classic style French vintage dinner service with Bordeaux red borders and gilt wreath and seed stylized floral and leaf border designs. Classic style with deep red and gold on a crisp white ground. 10 place settings with 10 dinner plates, 10 soup plates, plus a set of 4 matching serving dishes from the faienceries of Saint Amand, France, France c 1920 - all in excellent vintage condition ready to use on your Christmas table and all year round!
Featuring a very sweet stylised floral pattern of gilt small leaves and flowers around the plate rims, and a deep a crimson border in a luster finish, this set is wonderful celebration and festive china. The deep colour and subtle gold details are set off beautifully by the crisp white ground for a classic look, timeless elegance in any environment.
An absolutely classic French design for a sophisticated décor and compatible with most table styles. Numerous plates to serve a significant dinner party (or multiple courses) accompanied by matching set of serving dishes. Excellent color retaining a white base without any significant discoloration, and very little wear to the gilt decoration, almost every piece is in excellent condition.
The set includes:
10 flat plates (23cm / 9" diameter)
10 soup plates (23cm / 9" diameter)
1 x deep salad bowl with stepped molded design
1 x small oval 'ravier' dish (23cm / 9" diameter) - Some crazing to note on this piece.
1 x deep dish serving bowl (29cm diameter x 6cm high)
1 x round platter (29 cm diameter x 4cm high)
Unless noted in the description above, all pieces are in excellent antique condition - no chips or cracks, color remains crisp and clear with no staining, gilt borders in very good condition without significant wear. Overall this set has been very lightly used and remains in excellent condition despite its age. Because this is a functional item, you may expect to see signs of use including light scratches, a few small areas of glaze loss, a few small areas of discoloration, etc. Also it is manufactured to different standards than today and you may see areas of glaze smudging, glaze spots, bubbles under the glaze - these are part of the character of vintage ceramics.
