A delightful French-language metal kitchen canister in red / brown enamel - classic farmhouse style!
Made for the French market, with its label Farine (meaning 'flour' in French), this is a classic design in an attractive font that will be the perfect French vintage addition to a Farmhouse, shabby chic or cottage style kitchen.
The colour is a beautiful rich reddish brown, properly called burnt sienna. The painted lettering is in a love vintage font, probably applied using a stencil and features a thick application, slightly raised from the surface. Lined inside with bright white enamel with no staining or discoloration and ready to to use!
16.5cm high x 11.5cm diameter (at widest / tallest point, including lid)
Stamped on the base with a makers mark (a U in a ring of dots) but I don't know the maker, I'm afraid (please tell me if you know!)
Overall this piece is very good vintage condition. Some wear and enamel loss to the lid handle and a few smaller losses around the rim of both the jar and lid. Scratches, marks here and there, signs of use. No major discoloration inside the pot - ready to use and excellent on display.
Overall a very good piece of French enamelware with minimal damage - a great find!
