A French vintage barbotine majolica fruit plate, in a classic Art Nouveau inspired floral design with peaches and passion flowers. Hand made at the Saint Clement factory in France c1940-1960. An exquisitely detailed piece for a collector of majolica, or for lovers of French barbotine.
Features a beautiful barbotine sculpted surface with raised peach fruits and leaves in a naturalistic hand painted colorway on a light green ground. Also present is an intricate incised detail of stylized foliate and floral forms which edges the border design which feature passion flowers. The colors are in a pastel palette of delicate greens and peach, with green and soft yellow for the leaves. Subtle variations and graduations in the color create depth, with the shade and highlights within the polychrome hand painted glazes accenting the sculpted elements to beautiful effect.
In excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks, no crazing, no stains. Overall very light signs of wear and use, with nothing to detract from appearance on display.
