A gorgeous French antique butter yellow oval terrine from renowned makers Sarreguemines with ornate lid finial and molded handles c 1890-1900.
A lovely lidded stoneware pot displaying the fine workmanship with iconic molded lid finial decorated with leaves, and M-shaped applied handles. Made around 1890-1900, this authentic antique French kitchen cooking pot is rich with that distinctive French Country style. The colour is a fabulously mellow buttery yellow / deep cream glaze which beautifully complements the antique design and will be right at home in any interior.
Extremely decorative design with an authentic patina of age - as a functional item, this pot would be great for storage, but may be past its best for cooking and food service.
23cm long x 15.5cm wide x 15cm high (including lid, finials and handles)
Showing all the signs of 120 years of age, this lidded piece is in aged shabby condition - no cracks, a diamond shaped chip of approx 12mm x 6mm from the outer rim. Some small scrapes and flea bite chips from the surface, scratches on the interior and other signs of wear and use. Discoloration in parts, pronounced crazing of the glaze, some flea bite glaze losses, scrapes and scratches.
A lovely pieces to display enjoy - and add some authentic vintage charm to your French Country, farmhouse, or cottage décor!
