A gorgeous shabby French antique ceramic oval 'ravier' serving dish from Creil Montereau France, in blue and white transferware, 'Andree' pattern featuring intricate floral border and Fleur de Lys pattern, c1880-1890.
Small oval plates ('raviers' in French) would have been used to serve vegetables, but this classic form with smooth interior bowl could lend itself to many decorative purposes - a coin bowl, jewelry tray, flower bowl, etc.
This ravier has a lightly tea stained ivory ground, the pattern features a beautiful intricate border pattern of stylised florals of blossoms and quintessentially French Fleur de Lis patterns. In an antiqued petrol blue, this piece also boasts a fabulous palette, elegant and timeless to fit with any décor.
25cm long x 14.7 cm wide x 4.7cm high.
In shabby antique condition with a linear chip to the outer rim. There are other signs of use and wear (small scratches, scuffs) and age-appropriate crazing of the glaze. Noticeable tea stain discoloration present all over, for an attractive patina of use and wear.
This beautiful dish will be an elegant addition to your vintage, French country or farmhouse interior.
