French antique oval lidded sauce dish w footplate, charming petrol blue transferware 'Lamartine' EC Salins earthenware France c1910

A gorgeous French antique lidded sauce dish in polychrome transferware earthenware (ironstone) with formal, slightly stylised floral designs. Bearing a few marks of time, this piece is in the 'Lamartine' model, French made by the faiencerie E C (Edouard Charbonnier) of Salins, France c 1900-1910.

This beautiful piece of French serving ware is made in earthenware with a creamy white paste and antique transferware in petrol blue. Featuring a lovely formal border pattern, hand painted handles, a slot in the lid for a spoon handle to rest, and fluted rim detail - this lidded dish has so much gorgeous detail to enjoy!

Condition is satisfactory antique condition - the lid has sustained some damage, an impact crack which affects an area approx 2-3cm (1") in diameter - this damage is not very visible from a distance so the dish still presents well. Also, a small chip to the underside of the rim of the footplate, only visible from the underside. Otherwise, there are some light scrapes, scratches and discoloration / tea staining of the inside of the bowl consistent with age and use.
