A lovely antique French footed serving dish with attached base in red transferware design c1884-1920 from Creil et Montereau, France. In good condition suitable for continued use if desired, this bowl will also be a fabulous as a centerpiece, candy dish, or for display - beautiful with flowers, small fruits, or as a nut dish for a special table decoration.
Bearing a mark in use between 1884 - 1920 from renowned faienceries of Creil & Montereau, the style of this piece dates it to the latter part of the 19th century during the period of the Aesthetic Movement.
Featuring a romantic floral pattern of fuchsia blooms and branches, this is an incredibly sweet pattern for a perfect French country or cottage décor piece. Elegant rounded form and generous foot plate dish is a lovely complement to the intricate decoration, rendered in glorious berry red transferware.
This dish remains in good condition for its age of 120+ years, with no cracks. Light all over patination, one chip pf approx 1cm diameter from under the outer edge of the foot rim. All over scratches and signs of use, tea-stained glaze with all-over crazing. The colour is a lovely creamy white with light tea staining all over, more pronounced inside the bowl. Overall, this piece still displays nicely, but with a pretty patina of age, and is probably past its best for serving wet foods. Ideal as a pretty dish for nuts, candies or chocolates. Please check all the photos to make sure you are OK with the condition before you buy and don't hesitate to ask any questions.
Dimensions:
Maximum dimensions (including base) - 25.5cm x 15.5cm x 11.5cm high
Inner bowl dimensions (measured at top of bowl) - 23cm long x 10cm wide x 7cm deep
An authentic and charming piece of French antique ceramic ware to use, display and enjoy.
Feel free to ask any questions! :)
