An especially early and expressive hand-painted cul noir shallow bowl or platter with polychrome chinoiserie decoration depicting a bird, musician and waterside landscape. The yellow border and freer brushwork suggest artisanal production influenced by both Rouen and Nevers traditions, where narrative faience painting remained highly developed in the early nineteenth century.
Its painterly quality gives it strong decorative character despite visible age and restoration history.
