Children's small tea bowl & saucer, Victorian tea party scene, navy blue transferware, Societe Ceramique Maestricht, doll / child size set

A sweet small tea bowl and saucer in Victorian style with a sweet tea party pattern in a dense coverage of navy blue transferware. Made the early-mid 20th C in a style that evokes the Aesthetic Movement / Arts and Crafts period, this lovely set has a crisp white base and a delicate weight just like the antique pieces to which it pays homage. Unusual tea bowl form, ideal for a charming display piece, or could be used for a small espresso coffee. Possibly from a child's / doll's set in a charming miniature size (around 2/3 normal size).

With a beautiful all-over pattern in transfer print, this stunning design presents in a variety of blue tones, giving this classic palette depth and interest. Dense dark blue elements accompanied by lighter hatching create light and shade in the tone-on-tone design, while the all-over patterning of a tea party runds across both the bowl and the saucer, covering not only the outer body of the cup, but also deep into the inner rim of the cup.

Bearing a maker's mark for Dutch makers Societe Ceramique Maestricht, and probably made between 1920-1940.

In excellent condition with no damage very light signs of use, probably has been kept on display. Some pattern skips as to be expected for manufacturing processes of the time - these arise from the more "handmade" processes in use at the time of manufacturing.
