A stunning butterfly pattern adorns this large breakfast cup and saucer, made in exquisite molded Limoges porcelain with polychrome and gilt decoration in a classic Art Nouveau style. A lovely border pattern in blue, green, yellow and white houses tiny butterflies accompanied by a sweet trail of looping floral garlands. Just delightful and in excellent condition - an ideal gift!
Made by U C (Union Ceramics) of Limoges France this beautiful cup also features relief molded decoration of stylized shell and floral forms in the Art Nouveau style. A lovely, usable vintage cup and saucer, in lovely vintage condition.
This gorgeous set is a larger sized tea / coffee / hot chocolate cup and features a beautiful gold / gilt 'serpent' handle along with lightly radial sculpted molding detail on both the cup and saucer. With its large size and delicately rendered finish, this lovely set would be an ideal gift to make a fuss over someone special. Or perfect as a celebration cup to use on special days - I was very tempted to keep it for my Christmas morning tea!
Marked for the Limoges makers UC Limoges with a mark dating from 1909-1939. This piece would date to the earlier band of production (1910-1920) before the fashion changed from Art Nouveau to Art Deco designs.
This set is in very good antique condition with no chips, cracks or crazing and consistent colour. Some very light scratches but very few signs of use, light wear to the gilding to be expected with an age of 100+ years. A small firing fault in the interior of the cup. Overall in excellent, lightly used condition (clearly kept 'for best') and nothing to detract from appearance on display or usability.

Cup width with handle - 13.5cm
Cup height - 7cm
Saucer - 17.5cm diameter x 2.5cm high
Height together (cup on saucer) 8.5cm
