A stunning Antique French ladle made in Paris during the Belle Epoque, in its original presentation box. An absolutely classic design from the renowned silversmiths Armand Frenais, Paris. Ornate flowing decoration with acanthus scrolls and leaf forms, in a style popular during the Parisian Belle Epoque, a classic and consistently popular pattern choice.
Silversmith : Armand Frénais, Paris c1913 - Made in silver plate (12g silver deposition). Armand Frenais (also sometime known as 'Fresnais') entered this anchor mark on the 13th of September 1877 and struck it off on the 8th of September 1927 at 77 boulevard Richard-Lenoir, Paris. Worked in an elegant rocaille design, simple and elegant form with pleasing weight and balance.
This extract on the company is from the website "French Silver Marks and More":
"Due to their good taste and original elaborated design, the silver-plated and sterling silver objects, produced by A.FRENAIS, were very fashionable during most of the "Belle Epoque" period in French history (1871-1914). The designers working with FRENAIS preferred to use the Rocaille and/or Art Nouveau styles (the latter after 1895). These products competed well with the products made by the main CHRISTOFLE factory in St. Denis."
Priced and sold with its original padded velvet and silk lined presentation box, a few scuffs to teh exterior but generally in very nice antique condition.
Lovely soft patina of wear with light scratches and scuffs from use, but overall in very good condition and ready to keep serving. The form in is very good condition with no dents or misshapen elements. Lovely to hold and use, and still very serviceable and attractive.
Dimensions: 33cm x 9.5cm (at longest and widest points)
A gorgeous touch of authentic French design to enjoy and use for years to come!
Feel free to ask any questions :) I'm happy to combine shipping!
