Antique Limoges Porcelain Dinner Service, Pink Roses, Gold Gilt, c1908-20

A very pretty floral French antique dinner service of Limoges porcelain with pink wild roses, green foliage and gilt accents hand painted onto a white porcelain ground with relief detailing. 14 dinner plates, plus a set of matching serving dishes from M de M Limoges, renowned maker Mandavy de Mavaleix (this mark was in use from 1908 until 1918). While showing a few signs of its long life this sweet set still displays nicely and remains very usable.

Featuring a very delicate floral pattern of sprays of roses hand painted around the plate rim, along with subtle scalloped borders and molded edge rims in a lovely white porcelain. The painting is in natural floral palette, primarily in soft pink and pale green tones, and finished with gold trim.

With swags of cottage style charm, this is an absolutely classic antique design for sweet cottage and vintage décor. A good number of plates to serve your dinner parties, all accompanied by classically French matching set of serve ware.

The set includes:
14 flat plates
1 x soup tureen with its lid
1 x gravy boat with attached footplate
1 x tall fruit / dessert stand
1 x large oval platter
1 x large round platter

Dimensions and condition as follows:

14 flat plates - 24.5cm diameter x 2.8cm high - 10 plates in excellent condition, 4 plates with condition issues (mostly manufacturing faults) as follows: 1 with small rim chip; 1 with small rim chip plus a firing fault of a small fissure on rim 0.5cm; 2 plates with firing faults only as follows - 1 plate with a single small fissure on rim of 0.25cm; 1 plate having 4 small rim fissures (all on rim, 1 fissure of 1cm, plus 3 very small of 0.25cm each). Despite these issues, all 14 plates remain usable and display well.

1 x tureen / soupiere with its lid -19cm high (including lid - 10.5cm high without lid) x 22 cm diameter at widest point of bowl. Width including handles is 34cm, 27cm without handles. Excellent condition.

1 x gravy boat with attached footplate 24cm long, 7.5 cm high x 17 cm wide (including footplate). Excellent condition

1 x tall fruit / dessert stand - 22.5cm diameter x 13cm high. In satisfactory condition with two chips from the outer rim.

1 x large round round platter - 28cm x 4.5cm. Satisfactory condition with one chip to the surface of the rim.

Overall, this set remains in good antique condition for use and display, especially overall despite its age of 110 years - it remains very usable and will display well for years to come.
