Antique French Transferware Plates, Iris, Ducks, c1910, Salins France (Pair)

An exquisite pair of antique French flat plates with pattern 'Samaritaine' from E.C Salins (Edouard Charbonier). Made in red transferware in French itronstone ('terre de fer') in the early 20th Century c. 1910 from this renowned faiencerie in France. With some small condition issues, but remaining suitable for light use and lovely on display.

Priced and sold as the PAIR, a set of 2 plates.

Featuring slightly different designs between the two examples, this very sweet design stamped on the back for E.C. 'Sce Nenuphar' Samaritaine' features a wetland scene of ducks in flight through Irises and reeds.

Condition:
One piece in good antique condition, light crazing and some tea stain discoloration to the face.
The other is shabby, with a series of pits on the back of the plate (possibly a firing defect) and small chips to the surface. Please see photos for details.

Dimensions: 21.5cm diameter x 2cm high

Despite their signs of age and wear, this pair remain authentic and charming examples of French antique faience ware to display and enjoy.
