A rare and beautiful French antique barbotine majolica plate, in a lovely floral design with peaches, leaves and branches. Hand made by Hautin Boulenger et Cie of Choisy-le-Roi France as a high end production piece. A lovely piece for a collector of majolica, or for lovers of French design.
Features a beautiful barbotine sculpted surface with peaches and leaves and scalloped edges. The colours are in a pastel palette of delicate pink and orange fruit and light green for the leaves, with an earthy brown for the hand painted stems. Subtle variations and graduations in the color create depth, with the shade and highlights within the polychrome hand painted glazes accenting the sculpted elements to beautiful effect.
In superb antique condition with no cracks, chips or crazing!
Marked on the reverse with a stamp for Hautin Boulenger et Cie Choisy-le-Roi France, with a mark in use from 1836.
