A stunning antique ironstone cake stand from Staffordshire makers Bates, Elliott and Co, in polychrome transferware in an unusual palette of grey, green and red with lustre embellishments. In excellent condition with only light signs of use and wear. An elegant piece for a discerning collector, or to go into service on your table.
Can be specifically dated from its stamp and makers mark to production in September 1873.
Featuring a very beautiful hand coloured polychrome transfer printed design with a Chinoiserie design. Unusual polychrome colorway of burgundy, deep green and with yellow luster embellishments to the border on a crisp white ground. A fabulous piece of Staffordshire pottery, from the mid - late 19th century
Condition is excellent antique condition. No chips or cracks, light signs of use overall, very little crazing, no stains. A few very tiny flea bite glaze losses at the outer rim. Other than light wear there is nothing to detract from continued use or appearance on display.
Dimensions: 27cm diameter x 16.5cm high. Curving bowl form for the top plate, approximately 3cm deep at the center.
A beautiful and rare piece of antique china to display and enjoy!
