Three teacup and saucer duos are available, along with 4 matching cake plates and a larger presentation plate. Sold individually or as a group, as desired.
(A price reduction will be applied for purchase of the whole service - please enquire.)
These charming pieces show the variations common between transferware items, and are ideal for a collector of antique transferware, or for lovers of Staffordshire pottery. This is an unusual form with the extra fluted detail, not often found.
The colors are in a pastel palette of delicate orange along with apple green and blue on a crisp white porcelain base. Subtle variations and graduations in the color create depth, with the shade and highlights within the polychrome hand painted glazes accenting the sculpted elements to beautiful effect.
Dimensions as follows:
- Teacup duo of cup and deep saucer - teacup 7.8cm H x 8.5cm diameter (10.2cm wide including handle); saucer diameter - 14.5cm diameter x 3.5cm high. Height of cup on saucer is 8.2cm
- Small cake plates - 16.2cm diameter x 2cm high
- Presentation plate: Diameter - 23.5cm Height - 3cm
Important note - these pieces are recommended as most suitable for display or light / occasional use only. Not suitable for dishwashers or microwaves.
CONDITION - Almost all pieces in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks, very little crazing, a few very tiny scrapes and 'flea bites' here and there, scratches and light signs of use. Issues to note as follows:
- The teacup in duo #3 is good condition, as above, but with the presence of a small, non-penetrating firing fault / fissure inside the cup of approx. 1cm, there since the time of manufacture. This is difficult to discern at a normal viewing distance as the fault is only visible inside the cup and does not penetrate to the outside.
- Small cake plate ~4 has a V-shaped loss from the outer rim and a small crack at that same point. Not very visible from the front of the plate but a little sharp to handle. Still displays well. Priced according to condition.
Overall light signs of wear and use, with no major issues to detract from appearance on display.
Fabolous pieces of antique hand painted Staffordshire Chinoiserie to enjoy in your home!
