Originally a water jug and bowl for washing, this piece would make an excellent vase and fruit bowl, centerpiece or being put back to work as a water vessel. \u003cbr\u003e  \u003cbr\u003e This piece dates to the late 1800s and still presents very well with its crisp white ground and lovely cornflower blue decoration. The transferware printing is very detailed with almost the entire body of the jug and bowl covered in beautiful floral sprays in a non-repeating pattern - every part of the design is different with diverse arrangements of flowers in each of the floral vignettes, including proteas, roses, and poppies - so much detail to enjoy in this piece, even the handle is covered!   \u003cbr\u003e  \u003cbr\u003e The pattern is from the height of the Victorian era and features typical floral designs, in dense naturalistic arrangements. Accented around the rim by a trellis with a diamond edge pattern, which transforms at the spout into another lovely floral spray. In keeping with the style of the ideals of Victorian design, this piece is an unapologetically intricate piece - a tour-de-force of transferware of the time. \u003cbr\u003e  \u003cbr\u003e Stamped pattern name 'Jardinière' and U\u0026amp;C Sarreguemines as makers mark on the base.  \u003cbr\u003e  \u003cbr\u003e In very good condition for age - no chips or cracks. Lightly visible crazing on both pieces for a gently aged effect with a little all-over discoloration and a few flea bite glaze losses.
