A stunning floral design in a soft grey blue. Impressed with production numbers on the base, along with the stamped pattern name 'Royat' as part of the maker's mark.  \u003cbr\u003e  \u003cbr\u003e The design is intricate yet remains open and airy, with a fine border pattern and the naturalistic vining pattern of the flowers. The pattern is primarily a rendering of Columbine flowers, which to the Victorians were symbolic of romantic love, due to the revival of classical associations with Aphrodite, as well as being symbols of piety and the suffering of the Virgin Mary (from the Renaissance period). The design features lovely shading in the leaves of the flower petals, and slightly stylised stalks and leaves, typical of the sinuous forms of the Art Nouveau period. \u003cbr\u003e  \u003cbr\u003e Priced and sold as a SET of 2 of compotiers - one low footed plate + one tall desert stand. \u003cbr\u003e  \u003cbr\u003e Both pieces in excellent antique condition, with a lovely ivory ground colour, no cracks or chips, very little crazing.
