The piece is undated but the mark indicates the production of these pieces for 'Nouvelles Galleries' a fashionable department stores established in the largest French cities at the end of the 19th Century under the name Societe Francaise (SFNGR), the precurser to Galleries Lafayette. \u003cbr\u003e A perfect French country design, transcending fashions with its classic appeal.  \u003cbr\u003e  \u003cbr\u003e Priced and sold as a set of 4. No chips or cracks, and no patchy discolouration, in nice condition for display or use.  All plates show a few light signs of age and use, with scratches, wear to the rims, etc, to be expected at an age of around 120 years. Very minor all over crazing; also other minor manufacturing faults such as spots of transferware colour, small inclusions under the glaze, as to be expected with the manufacturing standards of the time.
